[Excerpts] A police officer was arrested Thursday for allegedly violating an order of protection his wife had secured. Sgt. Jay Sanders, a 21-year veteran, was arrested and charged with a Class A misdemeanor. "On April 18, officers were called to investigate a domestic incident involving Sgt. Sanders and his wife at their residence," Chief Fred Hayes said. Reports indicate the dispute was a "physical altercation," but the victim did not require treatment by paramedics or hospitalization. "The incident is still being investigated, but the victim was advised of her options and obtained an order of protection the following day," Hayes said... After his arrest Thursday night, Sanders posted bond and was released. "Under department policy, he has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation," Hayes added. [Full article here]
