Walls Police Chief Chris Sing, charged with domestic violence, has had his case remanded to file and must complete several programs, according to a court order. Remanding a case to file means it won't be prosecuted but could be brought up if new evidence is found to warrant reopening it. The case has not been dismissed and will remain on file for a year. Sing, 37, was charged Aug. 21 with domestic violence - disturbance of family... Southaven City Atty. Mark Sorrell said the case had been remanded to file contingent upon Sing completing conditions spelled out in a court order. The court order was not available for review and will not be released for 14 days. "Since the case is pending, that's all I can say," Sorrell said. According to police reports, Southaven police were called shortly after midnight... Sing told arresting officers his wife made him get out of her car, so he walked to the couple's home. Once there, Sing allegedly "beat on the front door" because the locks had been changed. The report states that witnesses told police Sing kicked in the front door and his wife pepper-sprayed him. He then jumped into the backyard pool to wash off the pepper spray. When police arrived at the home, officers found Sing soaking wet, the broken door and Sing's clothes scattered in the yard. A family friend and the daughter of Sing's wife were at the home during the incident... He has been suspended from his job without pay since his arrest... Walls Mayor Gene Alday said Wednesday town officials will discuss Sing's situation at next month's Board of Aldermen meeting. -- Yolanda Jones: (662) 996-1474 [Full article here]
