FORMER WATERBURY POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED ON LARCENY CHARGE
Waterbury Republican American, CT
By Chris Parker
August 12, 2008
[Excerpts] Former Waterbury police officer Bruce Bochicchio was charged Monday with keeping a municipally issued electronic stun gun after he left the force. The second-degree larceny charge lodged by Waterbury police against Bochicchio was added to weapons and domestic disturbance charges he already faces. Police say Bochicchio, 41, of Morris kept the stun gun, a device that can deliver an electric shock, long after he left the force in August 2006. Bochicchio's defense attorney, Tom Waterfall of Torrington, said his client returned all his other job materials to the city when he left the department, but simply forgot to return the stun gun... Police seized the stun gun and 10 other weapons, including an assault rifle, and two fully automatic submachine guns, during a search of his home in late June. They recently discovered the stun gun was among the items Bochicchio should have returned to Waterbury police. Officers searched Bochicchio's house after his wife, Christine, told them she feared for her safety and believed her husband had weapons in the house in violation of a previous restraining order filed against him. Bochicchio ultimately was charged with violating the restraining order. Around the same time, state police charged him with threatening based on a complaint by his wife in the wake of domestic disputes. He is under orders to stay away from his wife and the home where they lived. Bochicchio is scheduled for an appearance Aug. 26 at Waterbury Superior Court... Bochicchio's brother, Michael, a former state police trooper, shot and killed his wife, Donna, and critically injured her attorney, Julie Porzio, outside a courthouse in Middletown during a contentious divorce in 2005. 1. Knew these people. They owned Planet Properties in Morris and were our landlords for a year until Bruce got arrested. Interestingly, even though the property was taken over by another agency, when he was out on bail, he tried to convince our neighbors to send rent personally to him...in cash. The water in the place was foul (dead animals in the well) and there was mold. Just incredible how slimy he was (After he was arrested and Planet Properties closed, we stayed two months without paying, to cover the amount we gave them as a deposit which we knew we wouldn't get back, then left as quickly as possible.) Son was sweet...very quiet. We had a hard time understanding how anyone could want to choke the poor guy...
An update: Christine actually went back to this scumbag and they moved to GA, with Bruce still working in real estate...and apparently just filed for divorce this year (it's listed as a court date of April 4 on forsythclerk.com)...The screwy part: HE'S the plauintiff? Go figure...

Killer's Brother Accused Of Threatening Wife
    Full story: Hartford Courant

    Jun 2008

...These poor children. They deserve a safe and loving home to live in after such a brutal killing of their mother at the hands of their father. Now they live with his brother who seems to have come from the same mold. What's left for them, state foster care?...

...A good follow-up story would report on how and from where this individual was able to obtain "fully automatic sub-machine guns"...

...Get those kids out of that house!!!!!...

...This guy is obviously a felon, I must have missed what he did. I'm just wondering how he could get custody as a felon. Sounds like that family has major mental issues...

...Michael was a retired State Trooper, and Bruce is a Retired Waterbury cop and Judicial Marshal.. Donna always knew Michael was going to kill her.. History was going to repeat itself... I'm sure, Donna's children choose to live with Bruce and Christine,, hopefully they will change thier minds...

...these Children are being victimized all over again. I hope the law can protect the family this time...

...Word to the wise for anyone intimately connected to the Bochicchio's...RUN AWAY!...

...Mrs Bochicchio has certainly pointed out the failure to enforce the law. Code Blue prevails in all cases in Corrupticut. This poor woman had to go a long way to get a simple restraining order enforced. Didn't the Staties notice he did not send in his permit? If I hadn't sent in mine when so ordered I'd bet I would have had a visit in a very short time. The arrogance of the police show thru time & time again...

...I believe what needs to happen is that Current and Retired officers of the law need to have psych evaluations on a regular basis. So they can stop killing their family members and get help for themselves...

...God Bless the children that they are portected from all harm mental and physical...

...How he got custody of those children is beyond comprehension...

...He was not in a fight with his son Anthony, he was in a fight with his son Geoffrey. After Geoffrey pressed charges, he was kicked out of his house and his car was taken from him halfway through his senior year at Wamogo High School. He moved in with his friends family and has successfully completed his senior year. Last week he moved to California to live with his grandparents where he will hopefully be safe. He plans to go to college in CA. I am very proud of him...

...Thank you for the update. It's good to know that he graduated HS and living with people who love him. I wish him the best of luck and lots of love...

...There are a total of 6 children living in that house. They have all been mistreated for years. I am not surprised with Bruces actions. It is unfortunate that the mother did not run with those children long ago. I guess he needed to abuse her before she would do something...

...Her family (Seitz) has the means to take care of their niece/nephew, grandchildren (whatever the case may be). One relative on her side - same last name, same hometown, same family company - won $5 million in the lottery a year or so ago. They should be taking both children out of the home TODAY!...

...When I said her family, I meant Donna B.(maiden name - Seitz), the one already murdered by the brother, who is also dead. Get these kids out quickly...

...I am amazed how Mr. Bochicchio is already convicted of these crimes in the media and public opinion before his day in court. What happened to due process of law where a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty? The mere fact of being the brother of Michael Bochicchio appears to be enough evidence alone to convict. The news media reports stories more fictional than non fictional that is why newspaper article are not admissible in court. I would like to hear the facts to determine guilt or innocence. It seems so easy to judge from the outside looking in and using the new media as the source of evidence. Give the guy his due in court and let the facts come out. I would agree sadly these kids are exposed to yet another horrific situation. I am sure the ignorance of some people will be compelled respond to my comment...

...Therefore, any response to your comment that isn't 100% in agreement is ignorant. Wow -how pompous! history repeated...

...How the heck is he "retired" from the Waterbury Police Department and the State Marshalls Program at age 43? Why is his wife placing the blame on the children of his brother and sister-in-law - who was so brutally murdered?...

...If it walks and smells like a duck......

...The courant reporter wasn't even in court so I don't know how people could rely on their information. All they do is copy other reporters' stuff. Some of it is inaccurate too. Bruce B. was ordered to turn in his permit, but claimed he couldn't find it. I warn, don't judge this guy yet. It may look and walk like a duck, but after everything this family has been through it's obvious they still have a lot of healing. How someone could miss submachine guns in his closet is a lil fishy though. The state should have embedded itself in this 11-member household to make sure everything was going okay for the kids' sake. Best of luck to them...

    2. MORE:

...It's not always easy to get out a relationship that has the potential to turn dangerous-- when you have built a life and family with a person, it's difficult to abandon it when your spouse/partner's temper flares, even if they raise a hand to you. Too often violent marriages end in the death of one or both spouses because when the abused tries to leave, the abuser doesn't want to let them leave. When confronted, the abuser will often deny that they did anything wrong. Or they apologize profusely, lavish attention and gifts on their victim and "behave" themselves for a time, but go right back to their abusive behavior after a short period of time. It is these periods of good behavior that keeps hope for the relationship alive for the abused and allows the cycle to continue. And just because one woman leaves an abusive man, doesn't mean that the cycle doesn't end. Look at the Illinois cop Drew Peterson-- at least three of his wives are dead-- two of them died "accidentally" after they filed for divorce; his fourth wife is missing after she told him she would file for divorce, and his third wife, still alive, told police that he had threatened her and also told her he could kill her and make it look like an accident. If a woman is going to leave Drew Peterson, she's going to leave permanently. Obviously something is wrong with the men in the Bochicchio family--a genetic predisposition towards violent behavior. I hope that the family keeps their eyes on Geoffrey and Anthony and any other sons of the brothers for these same tendencies before the violence carries on...

Just an update for all of you who are worried, everyone is safe including my mother Christine who is under witness protection. I myself did make it to CA safe and sound. Just like many of you I'm proud of her for breaking the silence and turning him over to the authorities. It wasn't easy when I chose to file the restraining order against him to protect myself and I know it was just as difficult for her. I'm not here to seek attention or bash my stepfather I just want the truth known. Take care everyone...
