[CA] Just MAYBE prison for Deputy Slayton? Why is he even free now?

...Besides stalking, Slayton was originally charged with three counts of spousal abuse, battery, making a death threat, burglary, six counts of violating a restraining order, and installing unauthorized wiretaps and video cameras in the house he had shared with his wife... She claimed he broke her wrist and pushed her down an attic ladder. He cheated on her, she said, but set up surveillance cameras in her bedroom and hacked into her e-mails. After separating, the deputy would break into the house and follow her in her car...

A former Sutter County Sheriff's Department deputy convicted of stalking his estranged wife could be sentenced to as long as four years in prison for missing appointments with his probation officer... Judge H. Ted Hansen ruled Friday that Michael Slayton, 41, violated probation conditions by missing five appointments between late 2006 and this year... The Sutter County Probation Department will recommend a sentence before Slayton returns to court May 16. Slayton could be reinstated on probation, said [Deputy District Attorney Susan] Green. Former Judge Robert Damron sentenced Slayton in January 2006 to a year in Sutter County Jail and five years probation... Slayton was charged with a half-dozen counts of violating restraining orders, battery and planting recording devices in the house he shared with his wife of more than 13 years. ALL BUT ONE STALKING CHARGE WAS DROPPED IN A PLEA AGREEMENT. Slayton was fired from the Sheriff's Department after 16 years. Department officials did not disclose the reason BUT SAID IT WAS NOT RELATED TO DIVORCE PROCEEDINGS with his wife, Elena, a teacher and administrator with the Yuba City Unified School District... ...A judge earlier ordered Slayton to surrender his seven long guns and five handguns. Deputy District Attorney Diana Bermingham said Slayton was heard during a monitored phone call from the jail asking a relative to keep two of the guns. “There are at least two missing,” Bermingham told Chandler...

(Those charges appear to have gone POOF! I wrote the reporter and he can't get anyone to tell him where they went.)

[CA] Divorcing Deputy Slatyon Elena wins access to his records
The wife of a former Sutter County Sheriff's Department deputy must be given his personnel records as part of their divorce proceedings... Elena Slayton can have records that may contain information about Michael Slayton's conduct toward other women that led to his being fired from the department... The Court of Appeal said Elena Slayton made an adequate showing that the personnel records were potentially relevant to her divorce case, because they supported her claim of domestic violence...
