[TX] Potter County Sheriff Michael ("Mike") Shumate's grab & shove

March 4, 2006
The Sheriff's "grab" & "shove" left a "scratch" on his wife's face and a red mark "around" her arm that was still there when the police arrived. (He was gone by then.) The judge bowed out. The lawyer bowed out. They've both been replaced, the case just went to the grand jury, and the judge is going to think about it over the weekend - whether charges should be filed

or not.

From a Letter to the Editor, January 28, 2006, in The Amarillo Globe:

...How did Potter County Sheriff Michael Shumate get implicated in a shoving match with his spouse, who showed signs of being in an altercation, and not get charged with assault by contact/domestic violence?...

(Fair question.)
